Alex MelnikowA Message from the Chairman

Welcome to the DMSMS and Standardization 2009 Conference. With a new administration taking the helm of the federal government, there will be change and this year’s conference theme – “New Directions and Challenges” – will focus on what changes to expect and how these changes will affect the DMSMS and standardization communities.

This year’s conference agenda has been developed for the DMSMS and standardization professionals who wish to hone their skills and be a part of shaping the future of DOD acquisition and sustainment polices.  The conference will give you access to the DOD acquisition and sustainment leadership and a chance to hear first hand about their goals, objectives, and direction.  In addition, a full day of tutorials is provided and will be taught by some of the top experts in government and industry.  There is also an opportunity for hands-on experience with some of the latest automated information tools.

After the leadership sets the stage for our new directions and challenges, there will be discussion panels to allow audience participation and input into future DMSMS and standardization policies, procedures, and automated tools.  We have an outstanding array of experts to share their experiences through technical presentations on how they have successfully addressed the challenges of obsolescence, counterfeiting, standardization, parts management, lead-free, and many other related technical issues.

We have included ample opportunity for interaction and peer-to-peer networking and I encourage you to visit the impressive Technical Exhibition that will put you in contact with organizations that offer solutions for your DMSMS and standardization challenges.

Finally, I encourage you all to be a part of shaping the new directions and identifying the challenges facing the DMSMS and standardization communities by providing your thoughts and ideas. Enjoy your stay in Orlando.
